New Music Expo
It’s Your Festival goes for an incredible five days and nights of summer fun this week. And while the headliners on the big stage might boost attendance, music fans can see a real smattering of local underground talent on the side stages in the park.
The New Music Expo Stage, spearheaded by local CFMU DJ and promoter Bruce Mowat, offers up a wealth of talent for the next four days that might not be too familiar, but should be. [ more ]

The James Street Art Crawl has seen an interesting mix of visual art and musical performances develop but few spectacles match what the Hamilton Artists Inc. offers for its annual fundraiser. This weekend they offer the official after party for this month’s art crawl with the15th annual Artopia.

NO DOWN PAYMENT, NO HOME: LET’S GET INTO SAVING MODE

I had a call this week about a “no money down mortgage”. The person was informed by his bank that if he was able to borrow the down payment from another source, a minimum of 5 per cent, he then would be able to get a mortgage from this large Canadian bank. Unfortunately, the rules changed about six months ago and you are no longer able to secure a no money down mortgage or a 40 year mortgage.
The part that irked me was the major bank is basically telling the consumer to find the 5 per cent down and then they can help them secure the mortgage, or better yet, their dream home. [ more ]
